Privacy Policy

1. Overview

HappyGut: Health Score Tracker ("HappyGut," "we," "us," or "our") is a nutrition and health-tracking application designed to help you understand your meals, track progress, and learn about nutrition. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices available to you.

2. Information We Collect

Account and profile information

When you create or use an account, we may collect your name, email address, and profile information you provide, such as date of birth, height, weight, activity level, goals, and information about your nutrition or gut-health concerns.

Health and fitness information

HappyGut may collect health- and fitness-related information that you provide during onboarding or while using the app, including information used to personalize meal and wellness features.

Meal photos and other user content

When you use meal-scanning features, you may provide photos of meals. We may also collect meal descriptions, food selections, ingredient information, scores, notes, and other content you submit or create in the app.

Usage and product interaction information

We may collect information about your interactions with HappyGut, including meal scans, food searches, learning-path progress, checklist progress, and use of app features, when that information is needed to provide or improve the product.

Location information

HappyGut may collect coarse location information when it is provided or available for a feature. HappyGut does not use precise location information for its core functionality.

Device and technical information

Technical identifiers and information associated with your use of the app may be processed by the services that operate HappyGut. We do not use device identifiers for advertising or cross-app tracking.

4. AI and Third-Party Services

Google Gemini

HappyGut uses Google's Gemini API to analyze meal images and food information for certain AI-assisted features. Meal images may be sent to Gemini through our server-side service. HappyGut does not send your name, email address, user ID, date of birth, height, weight, or other profile fields to Gemini as part of the meal-analysis request.

USDA FoodData Central

HappyGut uses USDA food data for food searches. Search requests contain the food-search query and required API parameters; they are not accompanied by your account profile, email address, or meal photos.

Supabase

HappyGut uses Supabase for authentication, database storage, server-side functions, and private meal-photo storage. Your account and app data may therefore be processed by Supabase as necessary to provide the service.

Sign-in providers

HappyGut supports Apple Sign In and Google Sign-In. We use these services to authenticate your account. HappyGut does not request or collect your phone number through Google Sign-In.

Advertising, tracking and analytics

HappyGut currently includes no advertising SDK, no ATT/IDFA implementation, and no third-party analytics SDK such as Firebase Analytics, Sentry, or Crashlytics.

5. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for third-party advertising or targeted advertising. We share information with service providers only as necessary to operate features you request, such as authentication, secure storage, database services, AI meal analysis, and food-data lookup.

6. Data Retention

We retain account and app data for as long as necessary to provide the service and while your account remains active, unless a different retention period is required by law. We do not currently promise a fixed automatic deletion period for account, profile, meal, learning-progress, or cached data.

7. Account Deletion

You can request deletion of your HappyGut account from the account settings in the app. When account deletion is completed, the associated authentication account and account-linked database records are deleted, and stored meal photos are removed as part of the deletion process. Some deletion steps may be subject to temporary backups or technical retention required for security or legal purposes.

8. Security

HappyGut uses authentication controls, row-level database security, private object storage, signed URLs for meal photos, HTTPS connections, and server-side authorization controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

HappyGut is not directed specifically to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us in a way that violates applicable requirements, contact apphappygut@gmail.com.

10. Your Choices

You may access or update certain profile information through the app and may request account deletion. You can also contact us about privacy questions or requests at apphappygut@gmail.com.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as HappyGut changes. We will update the "Last updated" date when we make changes.
